A Classroom Above the City
Our Unique Setting
Nestled on the slopes of Mt Victoria just minutes from the CBD, Roseneath School offers a rare blend of natural beauty and city convenience. Our ākonga (students) enjoy an inspiring, green playground right on the edge of the Town Belt, where we can look up to Tangi te Keo (the Mt Vic summit) and out to Te Whanganui-a-Tara (the harbour). Our location is a springboard to nature walks, outdoor learning, and spotting native wildlife.
Our spot on the hill also gives us a very special connection to Wellington's local history. The site of the school was originally a Ngai Tara pā site: Te Wai Hīrere. Sitting just above Point Jerningham and the Roseneath Memorial Park, our school has a front-row seat to the city's official ceremonial gun salutes. Hearing the historic 25-pounder guns across the harbour is a thrilling piece of local heritage right on our doorstep, making our environment a truly unique, living classroom.
