Students in Year 1-2 will be encouraged to develop their positive disposition to learning, and their understanding of themselves as learners:

All of our Roseneath students will achieve to their highest potential in reading, writing and maths

Students at risk of not achieving will make accelerated progress

Baseline data

In 2017 88% of all students achieved at or above their National Standard.

18% of our boys achieved above expectations compared to 35% of girls.

Māori and Pasifika students in Years 4-8 did not achieve as well as the whole school in reading

Target

All Year 1-2 Students will show how they feel about learning to read, describe who and what can help them in reading, and articulate and demonstrate at least one of the strategies that a good reader uses

90% of all Year 3-8 students are at or above their expected curriculum level by the end of the year. We will increase the percentage of boys achieving above their expected reading level from 2017.

82% of students achieved at or above the National Standard in 2017.

Māori students performed as well as or better than the whole school population in writing

A higher percentage of Pasifika students performed above expectations than the whole school population, however a higher percentage of Pasifika students were below expectations than the whole school population

Target

All Year 1-2 Students will show how they feel about learning to write, describe who and what can help them in their writing, and write at least 3 sentences to express their ideas on a range of topics

90% of all Year 3-8 students are at or above their expected curriculum level by the end of the year.

Students will demonstrate increased engagement in writing

90% of our students achieved at or above their National Standard in 2017

Maori and Pasifika students performed as well as or better than the whole school population in mathematic

Target

All students in Year 1-2 will be able to describe who and what can help them in their maths learning and use and articulate simple strategies (e.g. using materials, counting on) to solve mathematical problems.

90% of all Year 3-8 students are at or above their expected curriculum level by the end of the year.

Increase the % of students in Years 3-8 achieving above their expected level in Mathematics
